Jumpy The Gameguide & tips
How to play Jumpy The Game
In Jumpy The Game you guide a small jumper across a galaxy of floating platforms. The one rule is simple: don't fall. Each level is a run from platform to platform, collecting coins along the way, until you reach the flag at the end. Fall into the void and it's game over, and you try again.
The game has two ways to play. The levels are hand-built stages that start gently and get harder: later levels ask for tighter jumps and cleaner timing. According to the Google Play listing there are more than ten galactic levels to master. Endless Mode is a single run that never ends. The pace keeps rising, and your best score is posted to a public leaderboard.
Runs are short by design. A run can last a minute, or keep going until you finally miss a jump, which makes Jumpy The Game a good fit for quick sessions on your phone as well as long high-score attempts.
Controls on Android and in the browser
- Android (touch): use the on-screen left and right buttons to move, the jump button to jump and the shoot button to shoot.
- Browser (keyboard): the arrow keys move your jumper, the space bar jumps and Shift shoots.
Whichever version you play, timing matters more than speed. A short run-up before a long gap gives you more distance, so you don't have to hold "right" the whole time to make a jump.
Coins and skins: what coins are for
Coins are scattered across the platforms and in the air between them. Grab them as you run, or mid-jump. Collecting coins is not just for show: coins unlock skins for your jumper in the shop. Spend the coins you collect to give your jumper a new look.
If you want a particular skin, the fastest way to fill your wallet is to pick up every coin along your route and to shoot beetles, which gives +5 coins each (see below).
Enemies: shooting and stomping beetles for coins
Beetles crawl along the platforms and get in your way. You can deal with them in two ways. Shooting a beetle gives you +5 coins, which makes your shot the best way to earn coins from beetles. Stomping a beetle (jumping on it from above) also works, but gives only +1 coin.
Your shot also clears the way when the path ahead gets crowded. Stomping is still handy when you are already landing on top of a beetle mid-jump.
Tips for higher scores in Endless Mode
- Use a short run-up before long gaps. It gives you more distance than jumping from a standstill.
- Time your jumps instead of rushing. In Jumpy The Game timing beats speed. Look at where the next platform is before you leave the current one.
- Shoot beetles for coins. A shot beetle pays +5 coins, while a stomp pays only +1, so shoot whenever you can.
- Shoot when it gets crowded. Don't try to squeeze past a crowded section; clear it first.
- Practise on the levels. Later levels train the tighter jumps and cleaner timing you need when the pace rises in Endless Mode.
- Expect the pace to rise. Endless Mode gets faster the longer you survive, so stay calm early and save your focus for later.
- Put your name on your record. Your best Endless Mode score goes to the public leaderboard, and you can add a name to show next to it.
